A Time for Fun!
concert/cabaret
contralto Vira Slywotzky, pianist David Sytkowski
Thursday, June 5th at 7pm
Margaret Jewett Hall
11 Garden Street, Cambridge, MA 02138
I had the pleasure of hearing the Vira + Friends concert ‘A Time for Fun,’
in the warmly lit hall of First Church Cambridge.
Vira and pianist David presented a diverse repertoire of music,
including English, Ukrainian, Italian, and German songs.
I was blown away by the lush grandeur of Vira’s voice!
Her tone is rich, deep, and wraps you up like a warm hug from an old friend.
The concert evoked the full spectrum of emotions,
from comedic and zany to plaintive gravitas,
with Vira’s animated performance style breathing life and joy into every piece.
I especially enjoyed her rendition of Mozart's 'Va, l'error mio palesa,'
where her expressive acting brought humor to an ostensibly dramatic piece.
Throughout the whole evening, I felt mystified, entertained, and enchanted.
I will definitely be back for the next show!
