Today I'm thrilled to introduce
baritone Joshua Jeremiah.
Josh will be joining us for
All The Things We Are
a concert/cabaret of American music on
Saturday, March 28th at 2:30pm at
Saint John's in the Village.
This season finds Josh
singing classic roles including
Escamillo the Toreador in Carmen
and creating characters in new operas
from NYC to Hawaii (lucky!).
You’ll love listening to his full, rich voice and
watching the way he transforms into each persona he takes on.
A word from Josh:
I'm particularly excited to
introduce you to
"The Ballad of Milly Erne."
Unlike most arias that are
all about what you're feeling,
this one tells a specific story -
the tragic love of Lassiter for Milly Erne.
Starting out sweetly, Lassiter moves through anger and
reaches reflection, ultimately ending with:
"will you show me the way to my dear Millie Erne,
will you show me my dear Millie's grave?"
"The Ballad of Milly Erne" is from the opera Riders of the Purple Sage,
based on the Zane Grey novel of the same name.
Zane Grey essentially invented the Western novel.
Riders is one of his earlier works, and his most famous.
The show is all American -
American source material, setting, composer, librettist and
the orchestration of the opera recalls a Western movie,
it's very cinematic.
You're going to love it!
Check out Josh's website.
You might especially enjoy the
performance clips on the media page.
