This Weekend - October Song Fest in NYC! Introducing bass Patrick Scully
Hello friends,
Today I'm delighted to introduce
bass Patrick Scully,
joining Vira + Friends for
October Song Fest
this Saturday in NYC
and the following
Friday, October 23 in Cambridge, MA
- Vira
Patrick Scully, bass
Chinese-American bass Patrick Scully sings roles of all kinds in
every nook and cranny of the continental United States.
The characters Patrick will portray in October Song Fest include
an inebriated knight, a grieving father and a member of the
Prohibition era Greenwich Village Vigilance Committee -
text taken from the Committee's handwritten notecards
housed in the NYU archives!
Patrick will also be singing poetry set to music.
A word from Patrick:
I find that the setting of a concert or a cabaret is
more intimate and personal than opera:
it allows a
much closer connection to the audience - I feel I am able to reach out and
deliver the emotion of the music
as if I am reaching out to take the audience's hand in mine!
While the magic of a large operatic production is
what drew me to singing in the first place,
being able to strip away the multiple moving parts of a stage show
delivers a more raw experience;
both have the power to move you,
it's just a matter of how it's done.
Questions? Thoughts? Feelings?
Patrick will be in attendance at the
receptions following the performances -
you'll have the opportunity to meet him and speak with him then!
