II. “Air on the G String”
This piece sounds heavenly.
It’s slow and melodic—all legato and no staccato. There is a sense of anticipation,
like the music is waiting for a beat drop or
a change in tempo that never comes.
It sounds like the night after the last day of school,
when memories of and regret for the end of the year are rampant
but so is the anticipation of the three months of freedom ahead.
